Atlantykron
is a summer camp dedicated to the study and interconnectivity between young Romanians and scientists organized since 1989 in Romania, on an island (formally called Atlantykron), located on the right arm of the Danube.
The founding of the Atlantykron Summer Academy in the summer of 1989 is due to Alexandru Mironov, Aurel Cărășel and Sorin Repanovici. Organized on an island near Topalu commune, Capidava village, near the former homonymous Roman camp, Capidava, the Atlantykron camp is sponsored and coordinated, since 1999, by the non-profit organization World Genesis Foundation and by the National Commission of Romania attached to UNESCO.
The first edition of the Atlantykron summer camp was held in the summer of 1989. Since then, the camp, which is held for 10-12 days each year in early August and has attracted hundreds of young people and teachers from around the world, who have the opportunity to get to know, interact with and learn from scholars, artists, writers and other professionals from different fields.
Between July 27 and August 5, 2018, the 29th edition of the Summer Academy for Youth, Science, Futureology and Science Fiction ATLANTYKRON took place in Capidava, Constanta County.
Bearing the generic “Centenarium”, Atlantykron is the only event of this kind in Romania and, according to many special guests from abroad, a unique event in the world. The unique Academy, organized in the middle of nature and far from the civilization of the city, aims at the access to knowledge of young people and brings together world-class experts (some of whom have received the Nobel Prize) and state-of-the-art technology, on an island that is less than 1 km2. During the camp, scientific demonstrations and art or communication courses are held.
ISLAND SECURITY
Ensuring a safe and relaxing period is the top priority of the Academy coordinators.
Distinctive, in addition to the Security Company, the Border Police are permanently present on the island. In addition, each instructor, team leader and program coordinator supervises all activities, supporting security teams.
